Job summary

KFI Engineers is seeking a Lead Designer (Mechanical) for Utilities & Central Energy in Saint Paul, MN. This role leads mechanical design deliverables using AutoCAD Plant 3D and Revit, ensuring accuracy and compliance while mentoring junior designers.

Responsibilities include coordinating with engineers, managing staffing, and driving project success from concept through commissioning. Domestic travel up to 10% may be required. Benefits and competitive salary are offered.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 10+ years of design experience.
• Expertise in 3D design, mechanical general arrangements, piping systems, and P&IDs.
• Experience reviewing mechanical equipment drawings.
• Demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience, including guiding junior team members.

Responsibilities

• Lead, supervise, and develop design staff with coaching and performance reviews.
• Provide leadership and on-the-job training for designers.
• Support staffing and recruitment to meet project demands.
• Manage design staff resource planning and balance multiple priorities with project managers.
• Lead projects from inception to completion and contribute to budget/schedule.
