HDR is seeking a Senior Mechanical Designer to join our Building Engineering Services (BES) Business Group in North Carolina. In this role, you will:

  • Perform routine mechanical engineering assignments using standard techniques and procedures.
  • Design HVAC and plumbing systems, applying judgment to evaluate and select appropriate engineering techniques and procedures.
  • Use engineering software to develop HVAC loads, energy analyses, and select mechanical equipment.
  • Prepare design calculations and quantity estimates.
  • Create construction documents for HVAC and plumbing systems, including drawings, specifications, and reports.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines as necessary.
  • Work independently on projects and guide junior staff.
  • Manage construction contract administration, including reviewing submittals and RFIs.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervising engineer.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • REVIT proficiency
  • Experience with Load Software (e.g., TRACE, IES)
  • Local candidates preferred

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in engineering or a related field, or equivalent work experience
  • At least 15 years of engineering experience in the relevant discipline
  • Hands-on experience with discipline-specific computer applications
  • Extensive knowledge of industry standards
  • Ability to work in multidisciplinary environments
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
