Job summary

Briggs & Stratton, LLC. is seeking a Senior Mechanical Designer to lead design of complete systems, subsystems and tooling. You will create advanced 3D models, perform calculations, mentor junior designers and contribute to DFMEA/PES processes.

The role requires seven years of mechanical design experience, strong GD&T, and a track record of delivering complex assemblies. Travel up to 10% may be required.

Qualifications

• Advanced 3D modeling techniques
• Dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
• Math skills with trig and tolerancing
• Plan design timelines and project scheduling
• Materials properties and cost considerations
• Engineering standards and design practices
• Ownership of design scope and leadership of other designers
• Manufacturing processes and assembly techniques
• Strong written and verbal communication
• Fluent in English for the area

Responsibilities

• Designs complete systems including complex components, tooling, subsystems and concepts.
• Produces and edits complex 3D models/assemblies and detailed drawings.
• Prepares layouts of equipment with new designs or modifications and performs engineering calculations.
• Looks for design simplifications to reduce cost and standardize components.
• Reviews dimensional inspection of parts and approves for production.
• Manages tasks to ensure on-time completion of designs.
• Assists with DFMEA and PES documentation.
• Acts as SME in assigned design area and conducts technical reviews.
• Checks models and prints for proper modeling techniques and standards.
• Ensures New Product Development process is followed at all times.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
