LVI Associates is seeking an experienced Associate Principal Mechanical Engineer to lead complex building systems projects in Dulles, VA. This role balances technical leadership with client-facing project management and team development.

Required: 12+ years in AEC or consulting engineering, PE license, and a Bachelor's in Engineering. You will guide multidisciplinary teams from concept through construction while advancing engineers’ careers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• 12+ years of engineering experience in AEC or consulting engineering.
• Leadership experience managing and developing technical teams.
• Strong expertise in building systems design (HVAC, plumbing, mechanical, fire protection).
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the engineering and design execution of complex building systems projects.
• Provide technical oversight and ensure high standards of quality and compliance.
• Develop conceptual designs, perform system analyses, and oversee equipment selection and sizing.
• Collaborate with clients, architects, contractors, and internal teams to deliver project outcomes.
• Conduct site visits and resolve design challenges during construction.
• Mentor and develop engineering staff and support team growth.
• Stay current with industry trends and best practices.
