Job summary

Fresenius Kabi USA seeks a Sr Principal Engineer to lead mechanical design for Infusion products. You will direct design work, develop electro-mechanical assemblies, and guide DoE and DFMEA efforts to deliver high-performance, reliable devices.

The role requires 10+ years in mechanical design within regulated environments, strong CAD skills (SolidWorks), and a track record of mentoring and cross-functional leadership in a fast-paced R&D setting.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering.
• 10+ years as a mechanical design engineer on product development teams.
• 5+ years in a regulated environment (Medical, Aerospace, Military).
• Experience designing complex electro-mechanical assemblies in CAD systems like SolidWorks.
• Experience selecting materials and fabrication methods per requirements.
• Experience using PDM to manage drawings and revisions per FDA requirements.
• DFM or NPI experience.
• Experience with system integration challenges (thermal management, part design, reliability).
• Attention to details and hands-on in an R&D lab.
• Strong task management and problem solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Leads the design and development of Infusion products within the hardware team.
• Designs complex electro-mechanical mechanisms to achieve engineering goals.
• Establishes and performs DoE to assess new solutions and designs.
• Designs product housings that integrate subsystems with ergonomic design.
• Generates GD&T drawings per tolerance stack up and manufacturing capabilities.
• Performs DFMEA and updates designs accordingly.
• Optimizes designs for low cost, high quality, reliability and high-volume assembly.
• Coordinates with internal and external resources for design, prototyping and transfer to manufacturing.
• Performs failure analysis of returned products to drive improvements.
• Works with customers and vendors on technical issues.
• Creates project timeliness and tracks progress to schedule.
