Intuitive Surgical, Inc. is seeking a Senior Manager of Mechanical Design Engineering for the GI Robot platform.

This role leads a team of engineers in designing, developing, and launching new robotic surgical products, with emphasis on meeting patient and clinician needs while driving cross-functional collaboration across the organization. The candidate will guide development, documentation, and verification of designs, manage staffing and budgets, and partner with Product Management,

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering or related field, MS/PhD preferred.
• 10+ years of mechanical product design experience.
• Minimum 5 years of direct people management experience.
• Experience taking products from concept to production.

Responsibilities

• Provide vision for the technical project team and foster creativity, risk-taking, and crisp execution.
• Align designs with external customer needs for value to patients, physicians, and hospitals.
• Establish group objectives and individual work goals consistent with product development goals.
• Assign tasks, set priorities, establish metrics, and track progress.
• Coach and mentor engineers, technicians, and drafters to improve performance.
• Ensure design history file guidelines per FDA requirements and conduct design reviews.
• Support transfer of designs to manufacturing and supplier engineering.
