Job summary

Barrington James is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer for a fast-growing wearable medical device company in San Mateo, CA. You will own mechanical design of body-worn plastic components from concept through production, collaborate closely with industrial design to nail surface finish and texture, and lead design-for-manufacturing with injection molding and contract manufacturers.

You will support early clinical studies with rapid prototyping and iteration, and drive design controls

Qualifications

• 4+ years mechanical design experience with SolidWorks.
• Direct experience designing cosmetic, high volume plastic parts for wearable or handheld consumer products.
• Comfort working alongside industrial designers and understanding why finish and texture matter.
• Exposure to medical device development a plus, full training provided.

Responsibilities

• Own mechanical design of small, body-worn plastic components from concept through production.
• Partner closely with industrial design to nail surface finish, texture and overall aesthetic.
• Lead design for manufacturing across injection molding and contract manufacturing partners.
• Support early clinical studies with rapid prototyping and iteration.
• Build design control documentation as the device matures toward next FDA submission.
