Job summary

ValvTechnologies in Houston, TX seeks a Mechanical Designer/Design Engineer to develop safe, technically accurate, and cost-effective designs under moderate to broad direction. This role focuses on creating drawings, performing calculations, and ensuring QA compliance.

You will review junior designers’ work, manage BOMs, and maintain ISO/ASME/API QA standards, preparing documentation for shipment and supporting sales, engineering, and manufacturing teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of mechanical design experience with 3+ years in valve design.
• Experience with ISO/ASME/API QA requirements.

Responsibilities

• Create drawings, designs, and schematics to support sales, manufacturing and engineering.
• Perform calculations and material selection to ensure QA, sales and customer requirements are met.
• Review designs and calculations to minimize errors and supervise junior designers/engineers.
• Run simulations and calculations to test and validate designs and required documentation.
• Manage drawing database including new drawings, revisions, distribution and archiving.
• Create design files, BOMs, calculations, and calculators as needed.
• Maintain QA standards (ISO, ASME, API) and other QA requirements.
• Continue expanding knowledge of engineering and design quality standards and documentation.
• Perform final engineering and QA checks prior to shipment to ensure compliance.
