Job summary

SubCom, a leader in undersea fiber optic networks, is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to drive mechanical design from concept through production for next‑generation high‑reliability network elements, including fiber trays, modules, and enclosures.

You will collaborate with electrical, optical, firmware, reliability, and manufacturing teams, perform CAD/FEA analyses, and lead design verification and qualification testing.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering required.
• MS degree preferred.
• Deep foundation in mechanics and analysis and materials processing.
• Experience in high-reliability mechanical design projects.
• Proficiency with CAD and FEA design and thermal modeling tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design of network element products from concept to production.
• Develop fiber trays, modules, enclosures, and system assemblies.
• Perform and document design verification, qualification, and reliability tests.
• Collaborate with electrical, optical, firmware, reliability, and manufacturing teams.
• Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers and technicians.
