Job summary

SpaceX is pioneering the Starfall project, developing a high-capacity, high-cadence re-entry capsule for rapid global cargo delivery and future on-orbit applications.

As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will own hardware through its life cycle, applying CAD/FEA, hand calculations, and design reviews, interfacing with suppliers and production teams to ensure reliable performance in extreme environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline.
• 5+ years CAD/FEA experience.
• 5+ years hands-on hardware fabrication, assembly or testing.

Responsibilities

• Own primary and secondary structures, mechanisms, and/or fluid systems for Starfall Cargo Vehicle.
• Use hand calculations, FEA, and CAD to meet requirements.
• Lead design reviews and hardware qualifications.
• Serve as technical interface with suppliers, customers, and internal teams.
• Own hardware delivery timeline through inception, design, assembly, launch and reuse.
