Job summary

KBR seeks a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer for on-site work at our R&D Lab in Washington, DC. You will lead mechanical design from concept through production, applying engineering principles to develop robust structures and assemblies for defense systems.

Ideal candidates have 8+ years of experience, a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering, and an active DoD Secret clearance. Expect a fast-paced environment with overtime and cross-disciplinary collaboration.

Qualifications

• Active DoD Secret clearance is required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 8 years of mechanical design experience on complex systems.
• Experience leading design efforts and mentoring junior engineers.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design efforts from concept to final production.
• Research, design, and evaluate mechanical products to meet performance requirements.
• Develop structural components and layouts using CAD tools.
• Perform system-level analyses and feasibility testing on components.
• Participate in design reviews and support production/integration activities.
• Collaborate with a small team on fast-paced, short timeline projects.
