Job summary

SimTech, Inc. in Huntsville, AL, seeks a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join a dynamic, defense-oriented team. Lead 3D modeling, drafting, and DFx activities through production release, while applying GD&T and managing tolerances.

You will perform FEA, select materials, and guide design reviews with cross-functional teams. The ideal candidate has 10+ years in mechanical design, a BS in mechanical or aerospace engineering, and a security clearance (Active Secret or higher preferred).

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited institution.
• 10+ years of demonstrated mechanical design experience, preferably in defense/aerospace or regulated industries.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks including assemblies and detailed drawings.
• Strong GD&T knowledge per ASME Y14.5 and ability to apply tolerance schemes for producibility and inspectability.
• Experience performing FEA using SolidWorks Simulation and interpreting results to guide design decisions.

Responsibilities

• Develop 3D parametric models and detailed drawings in SolidWorks from concept through production release.
• Produce GD&T-compliant drawings per ASME Y14.5 for fabrication and inspection.
• Perform tolerance stack-up analyses to verify fit and function.
• Conduct structural, modal, and thermal FEA to validate designs against requirements.
• Lead prototype builds, design verification testing, and design reviews (PDR/CDR).
• Mentor less experienced engineers and establish design standards.
