Job summary

Rhoda AI in Mountain View seeks a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to own the Class‑A surfaces and thin‑walled components of our robot platform, from concept through mass production. You will craft high‑performance cladding, balancing aesthetics with structural integrity using CATIA and GD&T.

In this role, you will lead the integration of the cladding subsystem, manage tolerances, and coordinate with cross‑functional teams and suppliers to ensure designs meet functional and manufacturing

Qualifications

• 5+ years of engineering experience with at least one full‑cycle product launch.
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field is required.
• Deep knowledge of thin‑walled component design and/or high‑performance composites is essential.
• Proficiency in CATIA (or equivalent) with the ability to communicate ideas through sections and CAD studies.

Responsibilities

• End‑to‑End Ownership: Manage the product lifecycle from concept to end‑of‑life, ensuring feasibility and craftsmanship.
• A‑Class Surface Integration: Integrate the cladding subsystem balancing aesthetic, mechanical, cost, and time constraints.
• Systems & Tolerance Management: Define design criteria and perform dimensional stack‑up analysis for critical interfaces.
• Detailed Engineering & DfM: Design complex features to support performance while maintaining aesthetics and robust attachment strategies.
• Validation & Prototyping: Coordinate cladding prototype builds and validate components against requirements.
• Technical Documentation: Produce high‑fidelity 3D CAD models and 2D drawings with GD&T.
• Simulation & Failure Avoidance: Interpret FEA results to iterate designs for long‑term reliability.
• Supplier & Cross‑Functional Interaction: Collaborate with Supply Chain and Tier suppliers for feasibility and integration.
