Job summary

Joseph Michaels International is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to architect ground-up custom robotic cells and machine architectures in a fast-growing manufacturing environment.

You will lead mechanical design efforts, own SolidWorks large assemblies, and coordinate with fabrication and controls teams on-site in Brown Deer, WI. This role offers a direct-hire path, competitive salary, and a collaborative, high-autonomy culture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) or 5–10 years of verifiable, ground-up custom equipment design experience.
• Expert fluency in SolidWorks, including large assemblies and production-ready drawings.
• US work authorization and a local commute to Brown Deer, WI.

Responsibilities

• Lead ground-up machine architecture design for high-speed automated machinery and robotic work cells.
• Develop concepts and collaborate with Project Managers to create cost-effective automated solutions.
• Break down design scopes into milestones and coordinate with internal detailers/designers and external fabrication partners.
• Integrate fluid power and drive systems, selecting hydraulics, pneumatics, and servo systems.
• Conduct design reviews to identify safety hazards and ergonomic issues prior to shop release.
• Serve as technical contact for global clients and manage BOM releases and on-floor issue resolution.
