Job summary

KLA is seeking a hands-on Mechanical Design Engineer in Ann Arbor, MI to design precision motion systems for advanced semiconductor equipment. You will own designs from concept to prototype, work with multidisciplinary teams, and develop robust hardware ready for production.

Ideal candidates have a Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics degree, strong CAD skills (Creo/NX/SolidWorks), and experience with FEA, vibration, and thermal analyses.

Qualifications

• Design complex mechanical systems and precision equipment.
• Experience with tolerance stackups and manufacturability considerations.
• Proficient in CAD tools (Creo, NX, SolidWorks) and related documentation.
• Experience with engineering analysis (FEA, vibration, thermal).
• Collaborate across mechanical, controls, software, and manufacturing teams.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop precision mechanical systems and motion platforms for semiconductor equipment.
• Own designs from concept through prototype, testing, and release.
• Create 3D models and engineering drawings with documentation.
• Perform analyses to optimize performance, reliability, and manufacturability.
• Troubleshoot and refine prototypes and production hardware.
• Collaborate with systems, controls, software, and physics teams.
