Job summary

Roush is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer in Michigan to join our Advanced Engineering team. You will translate customer needs into design requirements, develop mechanical systems from concept to prototype, and lead CAD resources for 3D models and 2D prints while guiding a team to meet project milestones.

Ideal candidates bring 4+ years in automotive/aerospace, strong powertrain knowledge (ICE/EV), and hands-on troubleshooting.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
Minimum 4 years of experience in automotive, aerospace, or related industry experience
Advanced knowledge of mechanical systems, specifically modern powertrain operation (ICE and EV)
Hands-on troubleshooting and problem-solving; able to provide solutions to complex problems
Experienced with DFMEAs, DVP&Rs, DFM, and FEA
Ability to work on multiple programs simultaneously
Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Team-oriented

Responsibilities

Translate customer needs to design requirements and feasible concepts; apply engineering analysis to components and subsystems
Design and evolve mechanical systems from concept to prototype level
Manage CAD resources to develop 3D models and 2D prints
Conduct hardware development tasks including testing
Utilize CAE resources to validate designs analytically
Document and report status to customers and internally
Provide leadership, guidance, coaching, and technical support to team members
Work hands-on in a mechanical environment
