Job summary

VIAVI Solutions is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the mechanical design of optical test equipment for laboratory, manufacturing and field use. You will work with an international team across optical, electrical, manufacturing and product engineering to turn concepts into robust production-ready assemblies.

The ideal candidate holds a Mechanical Engineering degree, has extensive SolidWorks experience, and demonstrates DFMA, tolerance analysis and thermal simulation skills,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Significant mechanical product design experience.
• SolidWorks proficiency and GD&T knowledge.
• Experience with tolerance stack-up analysis and thermal simulation.
• Experience creating manufacturing drawings and supporting production release.
• Prototype development experience including 3D printing.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design and development of optical test equipment.
• Collaborate with optical, electrical, manufacturing, and product engineering teams.
• Design components and subsystems from concept to production release.
• Prototype, test, and validate mechanical assemblies.
• Apply DFMA to optimize cost, quality and manufacturability.
• Create and maintain engineering documentation and BOMs.
