ProSidian Seeks a FERMILAB Mechanical Engineer (FRA10) [Key Personnel | Senior Consultant - Exempt 874-1 Consultant] located: CONUS - Batavia, IL, 60510 (Remote) to provide Energy, Resources, & Industrials Sector related Program / Project Management Solutions for Proton Improvement Plan II Project (PIP-II) Construction Administration (CA) Support Services on behalf of The Fermi Research Alliance, LLC (FRA). These services are part of the ProSidian Energy, Infrastructure, & Environment Sector Group with overall focuses being Tailored Solutions To Meet Global Needs And Manage Resources across Energy, Infrastructure, & Environment In A Changing Environment under NAICS Code: 541330 - Engineering Services for The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Science (SC) with services also characterized as Construction Administration (CA) Support Services.

JOB OVERVIEW

GENERAL PROGRAM SUPPORT BY THE MECHANICAL ENGINEER

Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Designing mechanical systems for buildings, machinery, and other equipment. This includes developing specifications, selecting materials, and creating schematics.
  • Developing and designing new mechanical products such as engines, power generators, and machine tools.
  • Testing and troubleshooting mechanical systems to ensure they are safe and functioning properly.
  • Supervising the installation and maintenance of mechanical systems and equipment.
  • Overseeing the work of technicians and other engineers.
  • Conducting research to discover new technologies and to improve existing mechanical systems and products.
  • Ensuring that all mechanical systems and products comply with safety standards, including those set by regulatory agencies such as OSHA and ASME.
  • Collaborating with other professionals, such as electrical engineers, software engineers, and project managers, to ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the desired standard.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or higher in a related field.
  • Strong technical skills, including knowledge of mechanics, thermodynamics, and materials science, as well as proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software and other engineering tools.
  • Ability to identify and solve complex problems, often working under tight deadlines and within budget constraints.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively communicate with other engineers, technicians, and stakeholders, and to present technical information to non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team, collaborating with other engineers, technicians, and stakeholders to achieve project goals.
  • High level of attention to detail, including the ability to identify errors and inconsistencies in designs and specifications.
  • Certifications in CAD and Digital Manufacturing, Certified Systems Engineering Professional, Certified Quality Engineer or similar certificates are a plus.
  • Must be licensed in the state of Illinois.
