Summary

As our Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for owning the mechanical aspects of various machinery and tooling projects. These may range from small R&D tasks to large-scale production equipment. You will collaborate with customers to define their needs and specifications. Projects will generally be interdisciplinary, requiring teamwork to deliver integrated and functional solutions.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design of systems, mechanisms, and components for custom automated machinery and tools.
• Develop, improve, and maintain best practices and standards.
• Integrate off-the-shelf and custom robotics, actuation, sensors, vision systems, and other automation peripherals.
• Meet project budgets and schedules, coordinating progress with project managers and stakeholders.
• Create 3D CAD models and 2D drawings.
• Provide training and mentorship to other engineers, including review and approval of their work.
• Guide production during build and commissioning phases.
• Validate designs through prototypes when necessary.
• Coordinate with controls and software teams for integration.
• Manage external suppliers.
• Refine project requirements in collaboration with customers.
• Support equipment deployment at customer sites as needed.

Qualifications & Experience

• Experience in automation and machine design.
• Ability to specify actuators, sensors, vision systems, and other peripherals.
• Mastery of SolidWorks or equivalent CAD software.
• Strong understanding of engineering drawings, tolerances, GD&T (Y14.5M-2009).
• Knowledge of materials and fabrication processes.
• Proficiency with controls and software concepts.
• 6+ years designing custom automated equipment.
• Experience specifying and troubleshooting pneumatic components.
• Proven skills in designing fixtures, jigs, and tooling.
• BSc or higher in an engineering discipline.
• Understanding of CE, NFPA 79, and SEMI S8 compliance standards.
