Job summary

RTX's Compression Systems Engineering (CSE) group seeks a goal‑oriented Principal Mechanical Design Engineer to support F135 Base/ECU HPC CIPTs. The candidate will take leadership roles in complex tasks and support IPTL and program managers.

Responsibilities include leading design solutions, manufacturability studies, validation activities, and cross‑discipline collaboration. Domestic travel and onsite work are expected.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with 8+ years of relevant experience, or
• Advanced degree with 5+ years of mechanical-design experience
• U.S. citizenship is required for access to information under this program/contract.

Responsibilities

• Develop technically sound design solutions meeting program milestones.
• Lead producibility investigations with manufacturing vendors onsite or remotely.
• Lead ECU design validation activities and coordinate with manufacturing.
• Apply 3D modeling to refine component- and module-level designs.
• Lead or support root-cause analysis and corrective-action implementation.
• Collaborate with IPTs across multiple engineering disciplines.
• Mentor early-career engineers within IPT/CIPT groups.
• Improve engineering efficiency using data mining and AI tools.
• Travel domestically 10–20% as required.
