Job summary

BETA Technologies in Vermont is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to own the architecture and mechanical design of high-lift devices for electric aircraft. You will lead flap and slat mechanisms, kinematic layout, actuation, and interfaces from concept to configuration readiness, with onsite work in South Burlington and Raleigh, NC, plus hybrid options.

You will mentor engineers, develop 3D CAD models, ensure load paths and safety objectives align with manufacturing constraints, and

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering is required.
• 7+ years in aerospace mechanical design or aircraft installation.
• Proficiency with CATIA/3DEXPERIENCE or similar CAD tools.
• Experience with kinematics, bearings, joints, and load paths.
• Experience leading complex hardware from concept to build/tests.

Responsibilities

• Own architecture and mechanical design of high-lift devices.
• Lead flap/slat mechanism, actuations, interfaces, and installation.
• Develop 3D CAD models and packaging studies.
• Coordinate with aero, structure, safety, and suppliers.
• Identify failure modes, tolerances, rigging, and maintenance access.
