Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Location: Middlesex

Salary: £50,000 - £60,000

A world leader in the design and manufacture of safety equipment for a wide range of military aircraft is looking to recruit a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer.

Key Accountabilities

1. Lead the mechanical design process for new ejection seat systems, from concept development through to production, ensuring designs meet strict safety and performance standards.
2. Utilize advanced CAD software to create detailed 3D models and drawings of mechanical components and assemblies, optimizing for performance, manufacturability, and reliability.
3. Conduct finite element analysis (FEA) and other simulation techniques to validate designs and optimize structural integrity, durability, and weight.
4. Work closely with cross-functional teams including aerodynamics, electronics, and manufacturing to integrate mechanical systems seamlessly within the overall ejection seat design.
5. Plan and execute comprehensive testing programs to validate design performance under various operating conditions, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
6. Identify opportunities for design optimization and innovation, driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product performance, reliability, and manufacturability.

Skills and Knowledge Required

• An Engineering Degree accredited by IMechE, RAeS, or IET.
• 2.2 or above in Mechanical Engineering degree is desirable.
• Experience in design software including 3D CAD modelling.
• Knowledge of finite element techniques.
