Job summary

Lvi-Associates in Tempe, AZ, invites a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead HVAC and building systems design for commercial and institutional projects. You will mentor junior engineers, interact with clients, and guide multidisciplinary teams from concept through construction.

The ideal candidate will hold a PE license, have 5+ years of mechanical building systems experience, and be proficient with AutoCAD/Revit and MS Office.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • PE license required.
  • 5+ years of mechanical building systems design experience.
  • Experience with AutoCAD/Revit and MS Office.

Responsibilities

  • Lead mechanical system design efforts for small and large-scale projects.
  • Participate in project planning sessions and serve as a key technical contributor during design meetings.
  • Develop conceptual and detailed HVAC system layouts for estimating and construction documentation.
  • Perform heating and cooling load calculations, equipment selection/sizing, duct and pipe sizing, and pressure loss calculations.
  • Conduct field visits and construction-phase reviews to ensure design intent is achieved.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and designers.
  • Coordinate with clients, architects, contractors, and internal project teams to deliver successful project outcomes.
  • Assist in resolving construction and design challenges throughout project execution.

Are you a licensed Mechanical Engineer looking for the opportunity to lead impactful projects, mentor junior engineers, and influence the design of innovative building systems? Our client, a nationally recognized engineering and construction organization, is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join its growing team.

In this role, you'll take ownership of HVAC and mechanical system design for a wide range of commercial and institutional projects while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams from concept through construction. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer who enjoys technical leadership, client interaction, and mentoring the next generation of engineers.

What You'll Do

What We’re Looking For
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
  • 5+ years of mechanical building systems design experience.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC systems and building mechanical infrastructure.
  • Ability to interpret mechanical and plumbing drawings and construction documents.
  • Experience with engineering design software, AutoCAD/Revit, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to work directly with clients and project stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to lead projects and mentor developing engineers.
