Job summary

Kforce is seeking a senior mechanical design engineer in Denver, CO to perform advanced stress, thermal, dynamic, vibration, and fluid-flow simulations using FEA/CFD and related tools.

You will optimize designs for performance, reliability, manufacturability, and regulatory compliance, lead prototype development and testing, and mentor junior engineers while collaborating across functions to meet schedule and budget targets.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of mechanical design experience designing complex systems.
  • Expertise in mechanical design principles, material selection, and engineering analysis.
  • Advanced knowledge of CAD modeling, assembly design, and technical drawing creation.
  • Strong leadership and cross-functional team management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; able to present to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong project management with multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Proven ability to solve complex engineering problems and deliver on time and budget.

Responsibilities

  • Manage multiple projects to meet schedule, budget, quality and performance.
  • Identify opportunities for design optimization and cost reduction.
  • Develop and implement mechanical engineering best practices.
  • Prepare specs, drawings, test plans, and technical documentation.
  • Communicate project progress and risks to leadership.
  • Serve as point of contact for design issues and ECRs.

Responsibilities
  • Perform advanced mechanical analysis, including stress, thermal, dynamic, vibration, structural, material, failure, and fluid-flow simulations using FEA, CFD, and related tools
  • Optimize designs for performance, reliability, manufacturability, and real-world operating conditions while ensuring compliance with applicable regulatory standards
  • Lead prototype development, testing, and validation of mechanical components and systems; Analyze test data, identify improvements, and develop validation plans that meet customer and regulatory requirements
  • Serve as technical lead on major projects, driving design decisions, troubleshooting complex engineering challenges, and delivering solutions
  • Lead design reviews and technical meetings while mentoring junior and mid-level engineers and reviewing their designs, analyses, testing, and documentation
  • Partner with engineering, project management, operations, and supply chain teams and interface with customers, suppliers, and other stakeholders
  • Manage and prioritize multiple projects and design activities to meet schedule, budget, quality, and performance requirements
  • Identify opportunities for design optimization, cost reduction, improved product performance, and process efficiency
  • Develop and implement mechanical engineering best practices while staying current on advancements in design, materials, manufacturing, and simulation technologies
  • Prepare and maintain specifications, drawings, test plans, reports, and other technical documentation
  • Communicate project progress, risks, issues, and timelines to leadership and key stakeholders
  • Serve as a technical point of contact for mechanical design issues, including product defects, field quality concerns, customer complaints, and engineering change requests (ECRs)
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical design engineering, with a proven track record of successfully designing complex systems and products
  • Expertise in mechanical design principles, material selection, and engineering analysis
  • Advanced knowledge of CAD modeling, assembly design, and technical drawing creation
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to manage cross-functional teams and mentor junior engineers
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Strong project management skills, with experience in leading multi-disciplinary teams
  • Proven ability to solve complex engineering problems, drive innovation, and deliver high-quality results on time and within budget

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future. Note: Pay is not considered compensation until it is earned, vested and determinable. The amount and availability of any compensation remains in Kforce's sole discretion unless and until paid and may be modified in its discretion consistent with the law. This job is not eligible for bonuses, incentives or commissions.
