The ideal candidate will design mechanical components, perform CAD/CAE analyses with SolidWorks and MSCOne, and collaborate with customers, suppliers, and internal teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Aerospace preferred).
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD software (Solidworks).
• Solid understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals.
• 5+ years of experience in an Aerospace mechanical engineering or related role.
• Experience with dynamic systems, vibration, and damped motion.
• Background in strength of materials, kinematics, dynamics, and fluid mechanics.
• Experience with FEA/FEM and numerical modeling tools.
• Prior experience supporting aerospace, defense, structural, or industrial applications.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the design and development of complex dynamic energy management systems, including springs, dampers, and isolators
• Analyze system inputs, responses, and performance using principles of statics, dynamics, kinematics, strength of materials, and fluid mechanics
• Interpret customer application requirements and recommend engineered solutions, often with limited initial data
• Perform detailed, bottom-up mechanical design for custom components
• Create and maintain engineering documentation, including designs, analyses, and test results
• Interface directly with customers, suppliers, and internal cross-functional teams

Our client, a well-established and highly respected engineering and manufacturing organization specializing in advanced energy management and motion control solutions, is seeking a SeniorMechanical Design Engineer to join their growing team in Western New York.
This is a full-time/direct hire/on-site position
Salary for this role based on experience: Up to $120,000
The SeniorMechanical Design Engineer will play a key role on a cross-functional engineering team responsible for the development of custom dynamic energy management systems. This position focuses on the mechanical and structural design of components used to control motion, absorb energy, and protect critical systems.
The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in mechanical engineering fundamentals, particularly damped harmonic motion, and enjoys solving complex problems where requirements may be incomplete or evolving. This role blends analytical engineering, hands-on design, customer interaction, and collaboration across internal teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Contribute to the design and development of complex dynamic energy management systems, including springs, dampers, and isolators
• Analyze system inputs, responses, and performance using principles of statics, dynamics, kinematics, strength of materials, and fluid mechanics
• Interpret customer application requirements and recommend engineered solutions, often with limited initial data
• Perform detailed, bottom-up mechanical design for custom components
• Create and maintain engineering documentation, including designs, analyses, and test results
• Support bids, proposals, and project execution activities
• Interface directly with customers, suppliers, and internal cross-functional teams
• Assist with project planning, budgeting, and execution
• Utilize CAD and CAE tools for design and simulation
• Travel occasionally to support programs and customer engagements

Tools & Systems

• CAD: SolidWorks (3D modeling and detailing)
• CAE: MSCOne (or similar FEA/FEM tools preferred)

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Aerospace preferred)
