Job summary

Averro is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer in Bellevue, WA for a 12-month contract with potential extension. You will design mechanical structures, coordinate with engineering teams, and lead design reviews to ensure quality and compliance.

The role requires extensive experience in equipment/component design, ANSYS analysis, and DFm/ DFA. Excellent communication and leadership skills are essential for mentoring junior engineers and collaborating with suppliers.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent; MS counts as two years experience.
• Experience with ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code Section III.
• DFM/DFA experience.
• Finite element stress analysis experience with ANSYS.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design mechanical structures and components from requirements through final design.
• Coordinate inputs from Engineering and Project teams to produce design solutions.
• Perform scoping analyses and calculations for design options.
• Interface with the team’s engineering analysis activities.
• Mentor junior engineers and manage supplier activities.

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design of mechanical structures and components from requirements through final design.
• Coordinate inputs and requirements from Engineering and Project teams to produce equipment and components design solutions.
• Perform scoping analysis and calculations for design options.
• Interface with the team's engineering analysis activities.
• Technically manage supplier activities.
• Present equipment and components design results for design reviews.
• Assess technical merit of solutions provided by team members, including leading design reviews.
• Interface with junior engineers and subcontractors, providing direction and mentoring.
• Support continuous learning and application of industry best practices to maintain the highest quality of engineering design and proactively identify process change/enhancement opportunities.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

• B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum of eight years of equipment / component design experience; relevant M.S. degree credited as two years of experience.
• Working experience with ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code Section III.
• Experience writing design specifications.
• Experience in Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA).
• Experience in finite element stress analysis, mechanical analysis methods, and commercial mechanical stress analysis modeling tools with emphasis on ANSYS.
• Excellent writing and communication skills.
• Strong analytical/problem solving skills, creative thinker.
• Ability to work with minimum direction to solve challenging problems.
• Ability to work on multiple tasks concurrently during a given work week.

BONUS QUALIFICATIONS

• Familiarity with SolidWorks preferred.
• Experience working in highly regulated engineering environments.
