Job summary

Averro is seeking an Engineer – CAD Designer III/Sr for aerospace ground systems programs, to develop, modify, and release CN-controlled Creo models, assemblies, and drawings for umbilical systems and tooling.

The role requires strong GD&T and ASME Y14.5 knowledge, experience with configuration management and engineering change/release, and a degree in Drafting or Mechanical Engineering. Collaboration with stress analysts and design engineers is essential.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in Creo for 3D modeling, assemblies, and drawings.
• Strong knowledge of GD&T and ASME Y14.5 drafting standards.
• Experience with configuration management and CN release processes.
• Ability to document mechanical, fluid, and electrical interface requirements on drawings.

Responsibilities

• Develop, modify, and release CN-controlled Creo models, assemblies, and drawings for umbilical systems, retraction/release mechanisms, and routing hardware.
• Design and release CN-controlled drawings for ground testing equipment, test fixtures, stands, and instrumentation hardware with defined interfaces.
• Develop launch pad structures and tooling designs including lifting fixtures and handling rings with defined rigging points and load paths.
• Generate detailed manufacturing and assembly drawings per ASME Y14.5 (GD&T) standards and manage data through CN-controlled release processes.
• Collaborate with stress analysts and design engineers to incorporate analysis-driven design changes and support design reviews.

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

We are seeking an Engineer – CAD Designer III/Sr for aerospace ground systems programs, which would be a great opportunity for someone with experience in mechanical CAD design, GD&T, and configuration management looking to further their career in aerospace and space launch engineering.

• Develop, modify, and release CN-controlled Creo models, assemblies, and drawings for umbilical systems, retraction/release mechanisms, and routing hardware in compliance with modeling conventions.
• Design and release CN-controlled drawings for ground testing equipment, test fixtures, stands, and instrumentation hardware, defining mechanical, fluid, and electrical interface connections.
• Develop launch pad structure and transportation/handling tooling designs — including lifting fixtures, transport frames, and handling rings — with defined rigging points, load paths, and handling procedures.
• Generate detailed manufacturing and assembly drawings per ASME Y14.5 (GD&T) standards and maintain product data through CN-controlled release processes.
• Collaborate with stress analysts and design engineers to incorporate analysis-driven design changes and support model checks and design reviews.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Drafting, Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent hands-on experience.
• Proficiency in Creo (Pro/ENGINEER) for 3D modeling, assemblies, and detailed drawing creation.
• Strong working knowledge of GD&T and ASME Y14.5 drafting standards.
• Experience with configuration management and engineering change/release (CN) processes.
• Ability to define and document mechanical, fluid, and electrical interface requirements on engineering drawings.

BONUS QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience with NASA MSFC modeling conventions and standards.
• Familiarity with fluid line schematics, electrical connector pinouts, and interface control documentation.
• Experience designing ground support equipment, launch pad structures, or aerospace tooling.
• Experience with Windchill PDM for data management and model translation between organizations.
