Job summary

Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) seeks a Senior Mechanical Design & Analysis Engineer for our Hazelwood, MO team. You will lead the development and verification of mechanical, fluid, and thermal system designs and document analyses to support DoD programs. The role requires a BS in Engineering with a mechanical focus and 9+ years of related experience, plus an active U.S.

Secret clearance and citizenship for Special Access programs. Relocation is offered; 1st shift.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace, Aeronautical or Materials) required.
  • 9+ years of related work experience or equivalent.
  • Active U.S. Secret Security Clearance required (past 24 months active ok).
  • Ability to obtain Special Program Access; U.S. Citizenship required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and provide technical quality review of mechanical and fluid systems and thermal environments to establish the system design.
  • Lead activities to validate and verify mechanical and fluid systems requirements.
  • Develop, maintain or modify system components' designs/proposals for installation and detail documentation.
  • Perform and document analyses.
  • Manage supplier development, test and production activities to optimize integration and meet program goals.
  • Prioritize and track analyses of mechanisms/landing gear/ordnance components and systems, selecting validation methods.

Position Responsibilities
  • Lead and provide technical quality review of the development and documentation of mechanical and fluid systems and thermal environment to establish the system design
  • Lead activities to validate and verify mechanical and fluid systems requirements
  • Lead the development, maintenance or modification of system components' designs/proposals to provide installation and detail documentation
  • Perform and document analyses
  • Manage supplier development, test and production activities and directs the supplier to optimize integration and achieve program goals
  • Prioritize, delegate and track performance and documentation of analyses of mechanisms/landing gear/ordnance components and systems selecting appropriate methods to validate or assess the design
  • Support proposal preparation and new business development efforts
  • Train and coach others
  • Work under minimal direction
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus on Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace Aeronautical or Material Sciences)
  • 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience
  • This position requires an active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active
  • This position requires the ability to obtain Special Program Access, for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship only.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)
  • Aerospace hydraulic systems and development
  • Aerospace supplier qualification
  • Subsystem lab testing
  • Subsystem airworthiness certification
