Job summary

Aalo Atomics seeks a Mechanical Cognizant System Engineer to own and manage mechanical systems at the CAF on the Aalo-X site. You’ll be technically responsible for CAV and RCS across their lifecycles, coordinating with Operations, Nuclear Safety, QA, vendors, and Design Authority to ensure safety, reliability, and proper configuration.

Responsibilities include maintaining system design data, monitoring health trends, supporting maintenance planning, and driving corrective actions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field.
• 5+ years of relevant engineering experience in nuclear power or regulated environments.
• Strong mechanical system‑engineering fundamentals.
• Experience interpreting mechanical drawings, P&IDs, specs and vendor docs.
• Ability to independently drive technical issues through resolution.
• Familiarity with DOE-STD-1073 configuration-management principles (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Maintain knowledge of assigned system functions, design requirements, performance criteria, interfaces, operating limits, and configuration.
• Serve as the principal engineering point of contact for assigned systems.
• Maintain System Design Descriptions, drawings, calculations, and vendor information.
• Monitor system health using inspection data, history, and surveillance results.
• Provide engineering support for system operation, maintenance, testing, and issues.
• Participate in change reviews and evaluate impacts to requirements, interfaces, and documentation.
• Support design, installation, testing, and turnover of modifications.
• Review completed work to verify restoration of configuration and performance.
