Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and electromechanical assemblies.
  • Root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.

Job description

Responsible for leading mechanical build activities, ensuring proper assembly of HMS transfer units, verifying parts, and coordinating with team members for efficient build processes.

EDUCATION:

High school diploma required.

Associate degree or technical certification preferred

EXPERIENCE / REQUIREMENTS:
  • 5+ years of mechanical assembly, equipment build, prototype development, or manufacturing experience.
  • Experience leading complex mechanical builds and troubleshooting activities
  • Interpret mechanical drawings, CAD models, engineering specifications, BOMs, and assembly procedures
  • Expertise with hand tools, power tools, torque-controlled assembly, and precision measurement equipment
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and electromechanical assemblies
  • Ability to identify root causes and implement corrective actions
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in automotive, aerospace, robotics, automation, or advanced manufacturing
  • Familiarity with SolidWorks, CATIA, Creo, or AutoCAD
  • Knowledge of GD&T
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing or Six Signma
  • Forklift, crane, or rigging certification preferred
JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Lead assembly and integration of mechanical systems, prototypes, and production equipment
  • Support prototype development, testing, validation, and commissioning
  • Diagnosing and resolving mechanical, manufacturing, and assembly problems
  • Collaborate with engineers to improve designs and manufacturability
  • Train and mentor junior technicians
  • Perform inspections and quality verification checks
  • Document build processes and modifications
  • Position tables per the global layout to stack HMS transfer units, while working with other mechanical build techs to ensure they understand the process.
  • Review all BOM’s to make sure that we have all commercial and mechanical parts to build the transfer.
  • Make a list of anything not on the BOM and make sure that we order these items to complete the build.
  • Take machined parts off the shelves and check to make sure Heli-coils are installed.
  • Once parts are checked out they are sent to paint, verify with the painter which areas need to be taped off and what color it needs to be painted.
  • Painted parts are then taken over to the assembly area to begin the assembly process.
  • Assemblies are built up at this point and once all assemblies are completed we begin to hang the unit on the shop tables.
  • Once the unit is hung all builders begin to run Grease, Air and any other mechanical pieces that were not on the assembly prints.
  • Check the unit dimensionally to make sure it is in tolerance.
  • Once checks are complete, the unit is then turned over to software for the 20-hour run off.
  • While the runoff is taking place, organize the shop to ensure we have space to set pallets in place for shipping.
  • The unit will then be torn down and secured to pallets for shipping.
  • A fastener list is then kitted along with air line and anything else needed for installation of the transfer unit.
