Job summary

FormFactor, Inc. is seeking a Principal Mechanical Architect to lead the mechanical architecture for next-generation wafer probing platforms.

You will drive system-level mechanical solutions for ultra-precision motion, wafer handling, chucking, and integration with controls, electrical, software, and manufacturing teams. The role requires 5+ years in precision mechanical design for semiconductor equipment, with leadership in architecture and cross-functional collaboration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in related field; 5+ years of relevant experience for advanced roles.
• Experience with precision mechanical design for semiconductor equipment is preferred.
• Ability to lead system-level mechanical architecture and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Define and own the mechanical architecture for wafer probing and test systems.
• Design precision motion and positioning solutions (stages, actuators, encoders).
• Lead wafer handling, alignment, and chucking systems for high repeatability.
• Drive system-level mechanical performance requirements and design targets.
• Mentor engineers and guide cross-functional teams in mechanical engineering.
