Job summary

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems in Woodland Hills, CA is seeking a Senior Principal Mechanical Analysis Engineer for on-site work. You will lead structural analyses for military avionics, build FEMs, and collaborate with senior engineers on complex design challenges. A U.S.

security clearance is required. Role emphasizes model-based analysis, CAD/FEM workflows, and rigorous validation against hand calculations and heritage data.

Qualifications

• Experience with developing FEA models and conducting analyses in ANSYS.
• Experience in 3+ of the following: system/sub-system FEA modeling/analysis, static, modal, buckling, dynamic, thermal strength/distortion, bolted joint analyses.
• Ability to verify simulation results by hand-calcs or comparisons with heritage programs and to perform bolted joint analyses.
• Bachelor's degree in STEM with 12+ years experience, or equivalent advanced degrees.

Responsibilities

• Serve as technical individual contributor for the Analysis Engineering Team.
• Build Finite Element Models (FEMs) using CAD geometry, meshing, and solution runs.
• Review drawings and requirements for materials, structure systems & subsystems; perform analyses to demonstrate compliance.
• Document static/dynamic analysis methods and implementation; propose new methods as needed.
• Participate in internal and external design reviews; support MRB and nonconformance.
• Collaborate in a team environment; prioritize tasks and solve complex problems.
