Job summary

The City of Albuquerque seeks a skilled Mechanic to perform complex maintenance and repair on a wide range of engines and equipment, including diesel systems and electronic controls. You will diagnose mechanical, electrical and hydraulic issues, read blueprints, and perform tests and calibrations to ensure operational status.

Candidates must have a HS diploma or GED plus two years of technical automotive training and at least three years of related experience; NM driver’s license and COP may be

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED supplemented by two (2) years technical training in automotive maintenance and mechanical repair.
• Three (3) years of experience in minor and major automotive maintenance and mechanical repair of a variety of vehicles and equipment.
• Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver's License and City Operator's Permit (COP) within required timeframes.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance and repair work on mechanical engines and equipment including diesel systems and electronic controls.
• Inspect, diagnose, test and calibrate mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems; read blueprints and schematics.
• Weld and fabricate components; maintain records and prepare maintenance reports.
