Qualifications

  • Possession of CWEA Mechanical Technologist Grade 2 certificate, or higher.
  • 1 year of full-time paid SacSewer Mechanic III experience.
  • 5 years of full-time paid experience in maintenance/repair of mechanical and electrical components.
  • 60 semester (90 quarter) units with 30 in math/science/engineering.
  • AND three years of full-time paid experience in maintenance/repair of mechanical and electrical components.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and perform the most difficult maintenance and repair of mechanical equipment and systems.
  • Operate lift and pump stations and monitor condition.
  • Plan, schedule, train, and develop training materials.
  • Apply advanced maintenance techniques for troubleshooting and corrective actions.

Skills

5+ years maintenance experience

Education

Job description

Sacramento Area Sewer District (SacSewer) is currently accepting applications for a Senior Mechanic position. Applications will be screened after the following filing deadlines at 5:00 PM:

The Sacramento Area Sewer District (SacSewer) Senior Mechanic is the lead and/or advanced journey level class in the Mechanic series. Incumbents in this class are responsible for performing the most difficult, complex, and/or sensitive assignments related to the operation, maintenance and repair of mechanical equipment and systems including operation of lift and pump stations. Incumbents may also perform highly complex or specialized functions and analytical work such as planning, scheduling, training, and development of training materials. Incumbents also apply advanced/specialized maintenance techniques for condition monitoring and assessment troubleshooting, research, and development of corrective actions.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Either: 1. Possession of a valid California Water Environment Association (CWEA) Mechanical Technologist Grade 2 certificate, or higher.
  • AND One year of full-time paid experience employed by the district in the class of SacSewer Mechanic III.
  • Or: Five years of full-time paid experience in the maintenance, construction, and repair of mechanical and electrical components of equipment in wastewater treatment plants, potable water systems, lift stations, storm drain pumping stations, or other mechanical facilities with similar systems and equipment.
  • Or: 2. Completion of sixty (60) semester (90 quarter) units from an accredited college or university, with a minimum of thirty (30) semester (45 quarter) units in mathematics, science, and/or engineering.
  • AND Three years of full-time paid experience in the maintenance, construction, and repair of mechanical and electrical components of equipment in wastewater treatment plants, potable water systems, lift stations, storm drain pumping stations, or other mechanical facilities with similar systems and equipment.
  • Note: Completion of a two-year mechanical-electrical technology program or two years of a stationary engineer apprenticeship program may be substituted for two years of the required experience in pattern #2 above.
