Job summary

Mullins Mechanical is seeking a Material Manager to lead material management across large-scale construction projects, directing coordinators and expediters. You will oversee the full material lifecycle from receiving through installation, ensuring accurate documentation, inspection, and timely delivery to the field.

The role requires strong organizational and leadership skills, experience with inventory control, and proficiency in Excel and Procore for real-time tracking and reporting.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in material management, logistics, warehouse operations, shipping and receiving, inventory control, or a related role.
• Experience leading and managing a material, logistics, warehouse, or inventory team on large-scale construction projects.
• Strong organizational, auditing, and records-keeping abilities with fast-paced operations.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and familiarity with construction management software.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the material management function for large-scale construction projects, directing Material Coordinators and Material Expediters.
• Oversee material lifecycle from receiving to installation, ensuring proper inspection, documentation, storage, and delivery to the field.
• Manage shipping and receiving activities, verify packing slips and PO’s, resolve discrepancies, and document damages.
• Maintain real-time inventory records and keep material status updated in company systems and project tools.
• Develop organized inventory, laydown, warehouse, and storage processes to optimize flow and minimize loss.
• Implement inventory control procedures, conduct audits and cycle counts, and reconcile discrepancies.
• Coordinate with Project Management, Field Operations, Procurement, and vendors to ensure material availability.
• Track material from order to installation, identifying shortages or delays that affect the schedule.
• Ensure safe and efficient material movement with proper site logistics and distribution.
• Provide regular inventory updates to leadership on deliveries, shortages, and potential schedule impacts.
