  • Alternate: high school diploma with 10+ years direct materials/supply chain experience.
  • Proven experience leading teams and improving KPIs like inventory accuracy and on-time delivery.
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency with ERP systems and Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and continuously improve material planning, scheduling, and supplier releases.
  • Oversee inventory control, ABC classification, and cycle counting to ensure accuracy.
  • Coordinate with Purchasing, Operations, and Planning to align supply with demand.
  • Manage logistics, warehousing, and KPI tracking for on-time delivery.
  • Drive continuous improvement through PFEP and data-driven initiatives.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Materials Manager to lead materials management, inventory control, scheduling, logistics, and supply chain operations. This role will focus on maintaining efficient material flow, improving supply chain performance, developing high-performing teams, and driving continuous improvement across manufacturing operations.

The ideal candidate will combine strong analytical and operational capabilities with proven leadership experience and the ability to collaborate effectively across purchasing, operations, planning, logistics, and other functions.

Position Responsibilities
Materials Management
  • Lead and continuously improve material planning, scheduling, and supplier release processes.
  • Standardize material flow processes to improve efficiency, visibility, and consistency.
  • Partner with Purchasing, Operations, and Demand/Capacity Planning to align supply with customer requirements and production needs.
  • Support capacity planning and proactively address material constraints.
  • Communicate supply chain priorities and customer requirements across cross-functional teams.
  • Drive adoption of structured material planning practices, including Plan for Every Part (PFEP).
Logistics and Warehousing
  • Oversee warehouse, shipping, and logistics operations to ensure efficient product flow and on-time delivery.
  • Monitor key logistics metrics, including on-time delivery and advance shipping notice accuracy.
  • Support the implementation and optimization of TMS, WMS, and ERP systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve complex logistics and operational challenges.
  • Lead initiatives that improve throughput, reduce waste, and enhance customer service.
Inventory Control
  • Oversee inventory control processes and ensure inventory accuracy and integrity.
  • Standardize inventory management practices, including ABC classification and cycle counting.
  • Monitor inventory accuracy, inventory turns, and other key performance indicators.
  • Minimize inventory write-offs through proactive controls and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Analyze inventory data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
Leadership and Continuous Improvement
  • Own and report materials and supply chain KPIs to leadership.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop supply chain team members.
  • Provide training and guidance across materials, inventory, and scheduling functions.
  • Drive data-driven improvement initiatives that deliver measurable operational results.
  • Provide subject matter expertise and analytical support for cross-functional projects.
  • Foster a collaborative, accountable, and high-performance team environment.

Prerequisites
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Business, or a related field with at least 5 years of progressive experience in materials management, supply chain, or capacity planning.
  • Alternatively, a high school diploma with 10+ years of directly related experience.
  • Demonstrated experience working with ERP systems and strong knowledge of materials planning, inventory control, and supply chain processes.
  • Proven ability to lead, develop, and motivate teams.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and translate insights into actionable solutions.
  • Experience managing supply chain KPIs such as inventory accuracy, on-time delivery, and material flow efficiency.
  • Advanced Microsoft 365 and Excel skills for data analysis, reporting, and KPI tracking.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and complex operational challenges in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment is strongly preferred.
Certifications (Preferred, but not Required)
  • APICS/ASCM CPIM certification.
  • APICS/ASCM CSCP certification.
  • Lean Six Sigma certification.
  • Other relevant supply chain, materials management, or continuous improvement certifications.
