Job summary

Vertex is seeking a Materials Management Warehouse Senior Specialist to oversee warehouse operations and inventory logistics for cell and gene therapy manufacturing sites in Boston and Cambridge. This role leads MSPs handling receipt, inventory control, kitting, transport, and issuance of materials and components, and oversees drug product pack and labeling operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, supply chain, engineering or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 2+ years’ relevant supervisory, team lead, or senior operative experience.
• 3+ years’ experience supporting materials management operations within a cGMP-regulated pharmaceutical or biotech manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Serve as SME for quality events related to Materials Management, including deviations, CAPAs, corrective actions, and impact assessments.
• Develop, revise, and implement SOPs and work instructions reflecting regulatory and operational best practices.
• Develop and deliver Materials Management on-the-job training (OJT).
• Manage warehouse assets and ensure ongoing regulatory compliance.
• Review data from temperature monitoring devices; investigate and resolve excursions.
• Maintain an audit-ready facility; close documentation and MES exceptions timely.
• Oversee drug product pack and label operations; provide SME support for serialization equipment.
• Support Oracle and inventory reconciliation; participate in design of Oracle and material flows.
• Oversee Materials Management safety programs including PIT and DOT compliance.
• Coordinate with stakeholders; schedule changes and MSP guidance.
• Develop and monitor KPIs; facilitate vendor reviews.
• Administer cycle counts and reconcile inventory; troubleshoot discrepancies to close batches.
