Job summary

Leidos in Long Beach, MS is seeking a Principal Material Project Manager to drive material strategy, manage purchase orders, resolve delays, and ensure supplier accountability within a Global Supply Chain team.

The role interfaces with manufacturing, PMO, and suppliers to manage the procurement process from order placement through receipt and payment, with travel as needed. Strong leadership and problem-solving are essential.

Qualifications

• BA degree with 12–15 years or MS with 10–13 years in material project management, procurement, or supply chain in defense, aerospace, or high-complexity industries.
• Strong knowledge of Supply Chain and related systems along with material procurement.
• Excellent analytical and creative problem-solving abilities for complex supply chain decisions.
• Self-starter, quick learner, and able to work independently in a fast-paced on-site environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with customers and suppliers.

Responsibilities

• Lead execution of material strategy across the program by managing open purchase orders, resolving delays, and driving supplier accountability.
• Act as the primary interface between Leidos and key suppliers, escalating delivery risks and ensuring contractual requirements are met.
• Summarize value and provide data-driven insights to leadership and program teams.
• Perform project management including requirements justification, planning, execution and evaluation.
• Play an integral part in procurement approvals and processes.
• Propose sound, innovative solutions to increase operational efficiencies.
• Mitigate and resolve supply chain challenges with priority deliveries and suppliers.
• Facilitate supplier negotiations and discussions with supply chain and program personnel.
• Drive execution of vision and goals for the corporate supply chain team.
• Apply risk management, including mitigation planning with PMO and project teams.
• Participate in Program Management Reviews and status meetings as needed.
• Maintain Control Account Management, baselines, EAC/ETC updates and variance analysis.
• Be a self-starter, flexible, and capable of working independently at a higher level.
