Job summary

Kiewit is seeking a senior Material Manager to lead the material management function for large heavy construction projects. You will supervise staff and craft personnel, interact with site management, equipment vendors, and subcontractors, and travel for field assignments.

Based in Wichita or willing to relocate, you will implement policies, oversee material receipt and issuance, manage budgets and schedules, and train teams to follow procedures.

Qualifications

• BA degree and/or 8+ years in power or industrial construction.
• SME on all material management functions.
• Knowledge of site purchasing, execution, estimating and their impact on material management.
• Proven ability to lead others and manage complex processes.
• Capable of gaining buy-in cross-functionally and organizationally at all levels.
• Proven ability to plan and execute project work.
• Knowledge of prime contract requirements for project execution.
• Experience tracking equipment, materials, labor budgets, trends and forecasts.
• Strong time management and organizational skills.
• Team player who can also work independently to meet goals.
• Ability to manage, train and coach purchasing and material control staff.
• Strong leadership and management skills.
• Ability to relocate for long-term and short-term field assignments.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safety plan for material management is followed site-wide.
• Develop and direct material management team including craft and staff.
• Implement and maintain policies for material control with minimal outside assistance.
• Oversee receipt, storage, and issuance of project materials.
• Projections, financial planning, delivery schedules, and material management reporting.
• Manage site support functions (security, sanitation, fencing, etc.).
• Supervise mobilization/demobilization of large projects.
• Negotiate and coordinate with suppliers.
• Track OSD&E resolution.
• Provide training and audits for material management procedures.
• Communicate and enforce material management procedures to project team.
