Job summary

Aston Carter is seeking a Principal Planner to lead master production planning on-site in Germantown, MD. This role drives the MPS for a complex aerospace/defense manufacturing environment, ensuring schedules, materials, and contractual requirements align to support mission-critical programs.

The ideal candidate has eight+ years of planning experience in aerospace/defense or technical manufacturing and will mentor junior planners while maintaining data integrity and timely delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and at least 8 years in planning or related functions (aerospace/defense/technical manufacturing).
• Extensive experience with production planning in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong experience in project material management, including demand consolidation and material planning.
• Excellent understanding of end-to-end supply chain processes and cross-functional collaboration.
• Proficiency with MRP systems and Microsoft Office tools; U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain DoD clearance.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain the Master Production Schedule (MPS) based on capacity, material availability, and contractual requirements.
• Obtain alignment and formal agreement on the MPS from production, materials, and program office stakeholders prior to execution.
• Maintain accurate MPS files, ensuring data integrity and traceability.
• Ensure proper closeout of completed programs and jobs, including disposition of requisitions and purchase orders.
• Monitor shipping performance against the MPS and contractual commitments, and develop tracking reports.
