Job summary

R&P Technologies is seeking an experienced mid to senior-level ship systems test and activation engineer to lead installation, grooming, testing, and validation of propulsion and auxiliary systems on LHA class vessels. The role emphasizes collaboration with shipbuilders, production teams, and government project teams in a New Construction shipyard environment.

Qualifications

• Must have a High School diploma or GED with at least 2 years of relevant work experience.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. DoD security clearance.
• Willingness to travel to support ship test, activation, and sea trials.
• Proficient in reading technical drawings, manuals, test plans, and procedures.
• Excellent communication, problem‑solving, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Execute system testing: perform end-to-end inspections, grooming, activation, and testing of shipboard systems.
• Validate test procedures by reviewing contract data requirements lists for technical accuracy against ship specs.
• Monitor quality control by validating testing onboard vessels to ensure compliance with specifications.
• Oversee installations and monitor the mechanical installation of propulsion and auxiliary systems in new construction shipyards.
• Conduct inspections and report deficiencies and progress of test and grooming activities.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical issues across hull, mechanical, mission, combat, and weapon systems.
• Collaborate with Government Project teams, Production Teams, and Shipbuilders.
• Analyze drawings, manuals, and design specs to support troubleshooting and testing.
• Work with engineers and field staff to resolve complex problems on LHA system components.
• Analyze equipment performance against test requirements and document findings in formal reports.
• Travel as required to support milestones and trials.
