Job summary

Apogee Engineering seeks a Maritime Systems Engineer (Senior Systems Engineer) to support SOF AT&L PEO-M. Based at MacDill AFB, FL, this full-time role works across surface and undersea mobility and mission systems, collaborating with Navy operators and government/industry partners.

Qualifications

U.S. citizenship is required.
Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility required.
DAWIA Practitioner Equivalency IAW the PWS (DAWIA Level II equivalent) in Engineering, Program Management, or S&T, or ability to attain within 6 months of hire with approved customer deferral.
Bachelor's degree in an engineering field.
10 years of systems engineering or systems integration experience in support of acquisition programs.
Experience in US Navy or commercial submarine, submersible, or Naval ship design, construction or certification, and testing processes and criteria preferred.
Experience preparing, reviewing, and interpreting design concepts and ability to convey ideas and formulate working drawings using CAD systems.
Experience developing test requirements and overall objectives and preparing test plans to meet project requirements.
Experience evaluating state-of-the-art technologies and incorporating them into planning, design, operation, maintenance, repair, and upgrade of applicable systems.
Experience in program management concepts including budgeting and financial control.

Responsibilities

Evaluates and recommends programs and development plans, utilizing professional knowledge of multi-discipline engineering.
Works with organizational managers, budget personnel, and engineering authorities to develop and gain approval for proposed projects.
Provides inputs for status briefings to leadership, outlining assigned programs and projects.
Supports technical evaluation elements of market surveys conducted in conjunction with assigned projects and programs.
Supports government counterparts regarding the adequacy and clarity of engineering and analysis processes based on daily application of the processes and agency reporting requirements.
Provides advanced inputs for status briefings to leadership, outlining assigned programs, projects, problems, and recommended resolution.
Supports contract modification and makes technical recommendations for change order approval. Supports budget control directly supporting the engineering effort. Provides decision support inputs for approval of plans, specifications, cost estimates, design calculations, schedules, cost proposals, and engineering studies.
Applies advanced tools to document and analyze the results of critical, complex activities and tasks.
Plans, executes, and documents surveillance of design, development, and production efforts on behalf of government counterparts, using performance indicators identified in applicable engineering surveillance processes.
Provides significant, expert-level support to government counterparts regarding the adequacy and clarity of agency engineering and analysis processes based on daily application of the processes and agency reporting requirements.
Completes advanced engineering demand tasks such as reviewing engineering change proposals, requests for waivers and deviations, and nonconforming materials.
Provides expert-level inputs for status briefings to leadership, outlining assigned programs, projects, problems, and recommended resolution.
Analyzes trends in performance indicators to assist government counterparts with managing Agency-level performance indicators, recommending corrective action, establishing lessons learned, and influencing the improvement of processes.
