Job summary

BOAB Ventures seeks a Mechanical Engineer with maritime experience to design, build, test, and deploy unmanned sensor systems. You will mentor junior engineers and technicians, working in both the lab and at-sea deployments on a cross-functional team.

The role emphasizes full-life cycle design from concept through manufacturing handoff, with field testing and system-level optimization in challenging maritime environments.

Qualifications

• Active clearance or ability to obtain Secret or Top Secret/SCI security clearance.
• US Citizenship required.
• 5+ years of relevant mechanical design experience (or 10+ years with 5+ years in design).
• Prior maritime design experience.

Responsibilities

• Design and document mechanical systems for maritime environments.
• Produce CAD drawings, documentation, and revision control.
• Select appropriate manufacturing processes and prepare docs for technicians.
• Prototype, test, and troubleshoot your own designs in lab and sea trials.
• Plan and participate in operational testing of prototypes, including going to sea.
• Mentor junior engineers and technicians throughout the design cycle.
• Support handoff of designs to manufacturing teams.
