Job summary

Tocaro Blue is hiring a Senior Navigation and Autonomy Engineer to shape autonomous marine operations. You will design fusion-driven perception, tracking, and localization, working with a small elite team to push capabilities on edge hardware.

Office in Birmingham, AL offers fieldwork in Pensacola, FL and collaboration with marine OEMs and US Navy partners. The role demands 7+ years of experience and expert C++ development in a robotics/marine context.

Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (MS/PhD) in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, or related field.
  • 7+ years of hands-on experience applying parameter/state estimation, dead-reckoning localization, and sensor fusion.
  • Proven track record through theses, dissertations, or projects showing localization and tracking mastery.
  • Expert-level C++ development with Python and/or MATLAB prototyping.

Responsibilities

  • Design and optimize multi-object tracking systems for maritime situational awareness.
  • Contribute to real-time multi-sensor-multi-object fusion tracking algorithms.
  • Create vessel motion models to enhance object tracking via parameter estimation.
  • Develop Radar-based localization and SLAM against reference cartography.
  • Deploy tracking and SLAM algorithms on edge hardware using optimized C++.
  • Build sensor fusion for precise vessel localization with GPS/IMU/signals of opportunity.
