Job summary

Oceaneering’s Marine Services Division in Bremerton, WA seeks an Outside Machinist to install, repair, and test mechanical systems on submarine and shipboard equipment. You will read blueprints, measure precisely, align machinery, and work in a demanding shipyard environment with strict safety and quality standards. Travel up to 75% may be required.

A Secret clearance is required, and you must be a U.S. citizen.

Qualifications

• Six years’ experience as Marine Equipment Mechanic or similar maritime industry experience.
• Ability to obtain government base access and any required technical certifications.
• Must be able to travel up to 75% of the year.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
• Must be a U.S. citizen who is not a dual citizen of any other country.

Responsibilities

• Set up, align, and operate a wide range of portable machining tools and hand tools used in the trade.
• Use precision measuring instruments such as calipers, verniers, height/depth gauges, and more to accurately record measurements.
• Review and interpret blueprints, sketches, and technical specifications to guide repair or installation work.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot abnormal mechanical conditions and recommend corrective actions on complex systems.
