Job summary

Jisco Marine Sdn Bhd is seeking an experienced Chief Engineer/Marine Engineer to lead the technical operations of our fleet from Mission, KS. You will oversee maintenance, repairs, budgeting, surveys, and docking activities, ensuring vessels stay compliant and performant.

You will coordinate with customers on technical matters, supervise shipyard work, and drive QHSE implementation while traveling as required. Strong leadership and hands-on problem solving are essential.

Qualifications

  • Min Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with 5–8 yrs relevant experience.
  • Sea-going work experience as Chief Engineer/Marine Engineer with minimum class 2 certification or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with ISM/ISPS is a must.
  • Able to travel on short notice as required.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the overall management and technical operations of the fleet, including maintenance, repair, budgeting, survey schedules, and vessel assessments.
  • Coordinate with customers on technical and operational matters including vessel performance.
  • Attend to vessel dry docking, repairs and survey; determine repair specifications for dry docking and maintenance.
  • Provide and compile documented reports on dry docking, budgets, and expenditures.
  • Identify and source technical and operational supplies and ensure economical rates.
  • Ensure certificates (SOLAS, life rafts, etc.) are maintained and documented.
  • Provide technical assistance to ships at home port and overseas.
  • Evaluate dry-docking options, prepare quotes, and select shipyards.
  • Perform monthly review of logs and vessel inspections; monitor class certification status.
  • Supervise contractors’ repair/maintenance work.
  • Budget and control ship spares and docking costs.
  • Conduct technical compliance audits and investigate defects to ensure conformance.
  • Work with HSE Management to implement QHSE systems and policies.
  • Review codes, guidelines, and standards to ensure quality and safety.
  • Maintain zero loss time accident records and report incidents.
  • Undertake other technical assignments as required.
