Job summary

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is seeking an experienced Senior Engineering Technician (Corrosion) Level V in Bath, ME to support on-site HM&E engineering for DDG 51 Flight III ships. You will contribute to ensuring delivery and readiness of advanced maritime capabilities.

The role emphasizes corrosion control, inspections, and compliance with applicable regulations, with opportunities to lead technical reviews and logistics support throughout life-cycle activities.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of a high school, trade, industrial, or correspondence school with credits in algebra, plane geometry, trigonometry, and physics.
  • Five (5) years of experience in the prevention and control of corrosion and in hull, topside, interior, and deck surface coating systems with Navy ships.
  • Five (5) years of experience with the regulations of the Clean Air Act, NESHAP, EPA, OSHA, ASTM 718F, and the Material Data Safety Sheet with regards to VOC compliance.
  • Five (5) years of experience conducting surveys of underwater hull, topside, interior, and decks to determine the effectiveness of specific corrosion control systems.

Responsibilities

  • Research technical requirements, availability, and alternatives for spare parts and assemblies for ship systems and equipment; provide actionable information to end users.
  • Deliver updates and revisions to technical documentation concerning installation, testing, operation, and maintenance of ship systems and equipment.
  • Support updates related to Engineering Operational Sequencing System (EOSS), Technical Manuals, and Planned Maintenance System (PMS).
  • Assist in crew familiarization processes including preparation for AEGIS Light Off, Main Engine Light Off, Ship Trials, CMA, DCMA, LOA, and certification phases.
  • Integrated Logistics Support: Provide technical reviews of System and Equipment ILS elements as directed by NSWCPD.
  • Support full life-cycle activities for DDG 51 Class ships, focusing on Flight III specific systems.
  • Additional Duties: Experience with shipboard corrosion control is highly valued, especially performing corrosion control inspections and/or holding AMPP CIP inspector certification.
