Job summary

Hornblower Corp. is seeking a skilled Chief Engineer to lead maintenance and engineering for vessels and facilities in the San Francisco Bay Area.

You will supervise Engineering and Maintenance teams, ensure compliance with Coast Guard regulations, and coordinate preventive maintenance and capital projects with senior leadership. Ideal candidates bring 10+ years marine experience, USCG Chief Engineer license (or equivalent), and strong leadership and budgeting abilities to drive safe, efficient

Qualifications

  • Coast Guard licensed Chief Engineer on vessels of at least 4,000 hp or 1,600 gross tons (or Limited Chief Engineer license).
  • TWIC card and First Aid/CPR certification required.
  • Minimum of 10 years marine experience, including 5 years as licensed Chief Engineer and 5 years in crew management.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; college degree preferred.
  • Knowledge of ship systems (diesel, hydraulics, electrical, fire suppression) and budgeting skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform repairs, overhauls, and upgrades to marine machinery per Coast Guard rules.
  • Specify and purchase equipment to repair and upgrade dining yachts while meeting safety regs.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose engine, generator, shaft line, and electrical issues.
  • Maintain comprehensive preventive maintenance and accurate repair records.
  • Manage Engineering and Maintenance teams to complete duties and reports.
  • Assist with drydock plans and capital projects for vessels in Northern California.
