Job summary

First Solar, Inc. in Perrysburg Township, OH, seeks an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to scale and qualify new PV technology for high-volume production.

You will lead cross-functional teams across Development Engineering, Integrated Supply-Chain, EHS, and Quality to drive process and equipment improvements. Responsibilities include designing and qualifying processes and equipment, leading DOE and Six Sigma projects, and mentoring junior staff.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. or equivalent in engineering with 5+ years of relevant technical experience; or 2 years as Development/Manufacturing Engineer II at First Solar.
• Master's or Bachelor's degree in engineering with 8+ years of relevant experience; or 2 years at Engineer II level at First Solar.
• Associate's degree with 12+ years of relevant experience or 2 years at Engineer II level; alternative pathways exist.
• Prior semiconductor or PV R&D/mfg exposure in thin-film deposition, thermal processing, or wet coatings is required.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to safety procedures and contribute to EHS/Quality improvements.
• Develop, qualify, and document robust solar module manufacturing processes.
• Serve as a subject-matter expert for assigned process or equipment sets.
• Design and execute process experiments; analyze and present results.
• Work with equipment OEMs to evaluate, install, and qualify tools.
• Lead continuous improvement using Six Sigma methodologies.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical training to operations teams.
• Develop Process Control Plans, FMEAs, Work Instructions, and Troubleshooting Guides.
