Position Overview
The Senior Manufacturing Technician serves as a technical and manufacturing expert, providing guidance and assistance to employees engaged in mechanical assembly, disassembly, and installation tasks related to power transformers. The role includes training employees in work instructions, skills, procedures, methods, and techniques to ensure correct and safe task performance. The technician performs direct work, demonstrating the ability to carry out various operations within the department.
Essential Functions
- Perform all duties of a Senior Manufacturing Technician as needed.
- Assist in maintaining workflow, ensuring availability of materials and tools, and adjusting schedules to meet manufacturing deadlines.
- Coordinate and communicate effectively with work teams.
- Provide guidance on new situations or problems.
- Determine operation sequences when specifications are unclear.
- Assist supervisors in analyzing and resolving work issues and implementing corrective actions.
- Conduct on-the-job training, including cross-training and job rotation, to enhance employee skills.
- Ensure quality standards are met through proper inspection, verification, and documentation.
- Complete process check sheets, daily manufacturing reports, and other paperwork according to procedures.
- Interpret and explain complex prints, specifications, and work instructions.
- Handle and store materials safely.
- Follow standard procedures to meet safety, quality, cost, and productivity standards.
- Perform TPM and preventative maintenance on equipment.
- Practice 6S and adhere to safety guidelines.
- Operate material handling equipment safely.
- Comply with company policies and promote a professional image.
Qualifications
- Associate degree in a technical field or vocational certification, with five years of manufacturing experience or equivalent education and experience.
- Advanced knowledge of manufacturing policies, procedures, and practices related to power transformers.
- Experience reading manufacturing drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
- Strong math and geometry skills.
- Proficiency with industrial measuring tools and hand/power tools.
- Computer skills, especially MS Office and business systems.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
Physical and Environment Requirements
- Ability to safely use hand and power tools and measuring devices.
- Ability to work at heights and on stairs.
- Ability to inspect work and follow instructions.
- Operate powered equipment such as forklifts and cranes.
- Work in indoor environments, standing and walking for 6-8 hours daily.
- Perform physical tasks including lifting up to 50 pounds and working in restricted spaces.
- Use personal protective equipment as required.
